Chairman Li Yong Invited to Attend the 2019 Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors in Changsha

On October 15, the 2019 Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors was held as scheduled in Changsha. Chairman Li Yong was invited to attend as a Senior Platinum Partner of the Forum. Ban Ki-moon, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA), Zhou Xiaochuan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of the BFA, Li Baodong, Secretary-General of the BFA, as well as Forum Governors including Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, former President of the Philippines, Shaukat Aziz, former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Carlos Gutierrez, former U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Mao Chaofeng, Executive Vice Governor of Hainan Province, Romano Prodi, former President of the European Commission, Surakiart Sathirathai, former Prime Minister of Thailand, and Jennifer Shipley, former Prime Minister of New Zealand, all attended the meeting.

The meeting was chaired by Ban Ki-moon, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the BFA, and Li Baodong, Secretary-General of the BFA, delivered an annual work report. All participating Governors fully affirmed the Secretary-General’s work report and commended the Secretariat for its proactive work and important achievements in various undertakings. The meeting focused on in-depth discussions on the agenda of the 2020 Annual Conference and the global and regional economic situation.

During the meeting, Chairman Li Yong held cordial dinners separately and posed for cordial group photos with new and old friends including Du Jiahao, Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, Xu Dazhe, Governor of Hunan Province, Wu Lan, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, Hu Henghua, Secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, former President of the Philippines, and Romano Prodi, former President of the European Commission.

After the meeting, Chairman Li Yongalso visited the Hunan Provincial Museum and Zhangjiajie together with all the Governors who had traveled to Hunan to attend the 2019 BFA Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors. At the Hunan Provincial Museum, Chairman Li Yong expressed great admiration for the exquisite cultural relics in the museum, such as the unique ancient bronze artifacts, the well-preserved thousand-year-old Qin Dynasty bambooslips, and various costumes unearthed from the tomb of Lady Dai at Mawangdui. In Zhangjiajie, Chairman Li Yong not only toured the spectacular mountains and scenic wonders but also posed for cordial group photos with Ban Ki-moon, the 8thSecretary-General of the United Nations, Romano Prodi, former President of the European Commission, Surakiart Sathirathai, former Prime Minister of Thailand, Carlos Gutierrez, former U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Zhou Xiaochuan, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Li Baodong, Secretary-General of the BFA, as well as Dai Daojin, Vice Chairman of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the CPPCC, and Guo Zhenggui, Secretary of the CPC Zhangjiajie Municipal Committee, who accompanied him for the entire visit!
