Chairman Li Yong Was Invited to Attend and Deliver a Speech at the Launch Ceremony of the International Investment and Trade Network (IITN)

On July 18, 2017, the Launch Ceremony of the International Investment and Trade Network (IITN) — a large-scale professional service platform for China’s overseas investment and trade, whose establishment was jointly initiated by the Council for Promoting South-South Cooperation (CPSSC) and the Institute of Overseas Investment and Cooperation, Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation (CAITEC) under the Ministry of Commerce — was held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Chairman Li Yong, serving as Vice President of the CPSSC, was invited to attend the ceremony and deliver a keynote speech. In attendance were Lv Xinhua, President of the CPSSC, Wu Dawei, former Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wei Jianguo, Vice Chairman of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges(CCIEE), and Shen Guofang, Vice Chairman of the China Foundation for International Studies(CFIS), among others. Some foreign ambassadors, Ministers - Counsellor accredited to China, and representatives from trade promotion institutions were invited to the launch ceremony.

In his address, CPSSC President Lv Xinhua noted that the IITN is a professional platform serving Chinese enterprises’ overseas investment and cooperation, as well as a professional online portal supporting the country’s advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The IITN integrates sectors including infrastructure construction, overseas investment, overseas industrial parks, industrial capacity cooperation, and procurement of bulk equipment into a single platform. It enables the timely release of information, smooth communication between supply and demand sides, and seamless connection of cooperative projects. Additionally, it can provide tailored, one-stop comprehensive solutions for enterprises, covering project search, feasibility studies, financing, insurance, legal services, and more.

In his speech, Chairman Li Yong pointed out that the launch of the IITN by CPSSC is an innovative initiative. It supports the country in advancing the BRI and international industrial capacity cooperation, serves Chinese enterprises in their new round of high-level “Going Global” and “Bringing In” strategies, and helps ensure the safe and stable landing of overseas cooperation projects locally.

The IITN features a unique strength in the high integration of “Online Platform + Offline Team” model, focusing on promoting resource sharing and complementarity among three types of institutions: first, various investment promotion institutions of countries with investment and cooperation needs; second, Chinese enterprises willing to engage in overseas investment and cooperation; third, global professional service providers in finance, insurance, law, auditing, and other fields. Through the seamless connection between the online platform and offline teams, the IITN aims to develop into a comprehensive service platform with advanced concepts and complete functions.

In addition, on the same day, Chairman Li Yong attended the Briefing Session on Investment and Trade Mission to Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire and the Republic of the Congo, hosted by the CPSSC at Building No. 5 of the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. Diplomatic envoys of the three countries accredited to China provided a detailed introduction to their respective domestic economic policies and investment environments, and all welcomed Chinese enterprises to conduct on-site inspections and project matchmaking in their respective countries. Subsequently, the diplomatic envoys of the three countries to China held in-depth discussions with CPSSC enterprise members in sectors such as new energy, agricultural processing, and financial services.
