Chairman Li Yong Was Invited to Attend the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Special Session on "Asia-Europe Cooperation Dialogue" and Deliver a Plenary Speech

On December 3, the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) held an online special session on "Asia-Europe Cooperation Dialogue". As a Diamond Member of the BFA, Chairman Li Yong was invited to attend the session and deliver a plenary speech entitled "Post-pandemic Economic Recovery Will Open Up Broad Prospects for Asia-Europe Cooperation", which was widely acclaimed by all attendees. More than 20 former minister-level officials, central bank governors, heads of relevant international organizations, ambassadors to China, as well as heads of BFA member enterprises from Asia and Europe held in-depth and heated discussions on key topics such as the impact of COVID-19 on globalization, the reshaping of the global financial system, and the Asia-Europe economic outlook.

This session was held against the backdrop of the worldwide spread of COVID-19, which exerted a significant impact on the operation of global economy and the global governance system. All attendees agreed that the pandemic once again highlighted the importance of revitalizing multilateralism and strengthening international cooperation. At present, as globalization faces headwinds, China-US frictions had escalated, and global governance was confronted with challenges, it is more important than ever to strengthen Asia-Europe dialogue and cooperation. Asia and Europe should join hands to fight against the pandemic, promote economic recovery, and promote the improvement of global governance system.

After the session, Li Baodong, former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Secretary-General of the BFA, sent a special letter to Chairman Li Yong to express sincere gratitude for his taking time out of his packed schedule to participate in the special session on "Asia-Europe Cooperation Dialogue", deliver a plenary speech, and put forward valuable suggestions. He also expressed the expectation that both sides would continue to maintain close communication and engage in in-depth cooperation.
