Chinayong Group Donated 5 Million Yuan to the Research Center for Rule of Law Development and Judicial Reform at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law

In the afternoon on July 1, Chinayong Investment Group and the Research Center for Rule of Law Development and Judicial Reform at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL) held a donation ceremony in the center's conference room. The ceremony was attended by Professor Xu Hanming, Director of the Research Center for Rule of Law Development and Judicial Reform and PhD Supervisor; Li Yong, Chairman of Chinayong Investment Group, Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and Vice President of the Chinese Foundation for the Education of Public Prosecutors; Professor Wu Handong, President of ZUEL and Chairman of the Center's Academic Committee; Professor Zhao Bingzhi, Dean of College for Criminal Law Science of Beijing Normal University (BNU) and Vice Chairman of the Center's Academic Committee; Professor Yao Li, Director of the Research Department of ZUEL and Specially-Appointed Chief Expert of the Center; Professor Xia Yong, Vice Dean of the Criminal Justice School and distinguished Chief Expert of the Center; Professor Ye Qing, Deputy Director-General of the Hubei Provincial Statistics Bureau and Distinguished Chief Expert of the Center; Professor Su Caixia, distinguished expert of the Center and Vice Dean of the Criminal Justice School, and other members of the Center. The ceremony was presided over by Professor Liu Kefeng, Vice President of ZUEL.

 

 The donation ceremony began with a speech by President Wu Handong, who briefly introduced Chairman Li Yong's personal deeds and expressed sincere admiration and gratitude for his benevolent acts and generous donation to the Research Center and legal education. President Wu hoped that with the care, support, and assistance of leaders, experts, and people from all walks of life, and under the leadership of Director Xu Hanming, the Center for Rule of Law Development and Judicial Reform at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL) would soon develop into a high-level "think tank" in Hubei Province and even across the country. Subsequently, amid warm applause from the audience, Director Xu Hanming and Chairman Li Yong formally signed the donation agreement, and Director Xu Hanming and President Wu Handong accepted a donation check of five million Yuan from Chinayong Investment Group on behalf of the Center.

 

Following this, Li Yong, Chairman of Chinayong Investment Group and the donor of this event, delivered a speech. He reflected with emotion on seeing the young, energetic, amiable faces of the students at ZUEL, which reminded him of his own college years. He also mentioned that he deeply appreciates the campus scenery and cultural atmosphere of ZUEL, and wished to establish a lasting bond with the university from now on, regarding it as his second alma mater. Chairman Li Yong stated that his funding for the Research Center stems from high recognition of the Center's development vision and philosophy. He expressed confidence in the Center's bright future and hoped that it would soon become a backbone force in China's rule of law development and an important component of national and local rule of law think tanks.

 

Finally, Director Xu Hanmingof the Research Center for Rule of Law Development and Judicial Reform at ZUEL, as the recipient of this donation, delivered an impassioned speech. He stated that today is a joyous day: As the Communist Party of China (CPC) marks its 90th anniversary, the Research Center is officially established, which means that China's legal research has opened up a new arena with the support of Chairman Li Yong. Moreover, today is also a charming day, as legal experts such as Professor Wu Handong and Professor Zhao Bingzhi have gathered together, making the donation ceremony particularly "appealing". While expressing heartfelt gratitude to Chairman Li Yong, he also gave a brief introduction to the Research Center for Rule of Law Development and Judicial Reform and expressed his aspirations for the Center's future development. At the end of his speech, Director Xu Hanming warmly invited all outstanding teachers and students to join the Research Center and make suggestions and contributions to China's rule of law development and judicial reform.
